Marquetta Cheeks is Co-Owner and President of Emerald Bayou Studios. Her 29-year career spans film, television and music working in Los Angeles and New York for major companies like WARNER BROS. (film, tv, and records) and INTERSCOPE FILMS. She is proficient in both film and television production, music production, contract negotiations, budget administration, project development, promotion, marketing and publicity. As president of production for EBS, one of her many responsibilities is overseeing the companies production projects and the two film production training programs. She recently finished the short film THE GLASS CHORD starring Grammy nominee and legendary blues musician Henry Gray. THE GLASS CHORD is the first production from the EBS/LTC Jumonville film production program. Marquetta is currently gearing up to produce EBS' first film MY IMAGINARY BOYFRIEND and the first Homegrown Workforce Initiative film FACELESS. Upon her graduation from Southern University with a Degree in Broadcast Journalism, Marquetta began her illustrious career on the Columbia Pictures lot in Los Angeles at Indigo Productions as personal assistant to Richard Pryor. She worked with Pryor on BREWSTER'S MILLIONS, the weekly CBS children's show PRYOR'S PLACE and his directing debut film JO JO DANCER. Marquetta was part of the strategic marketing team for the Interscope/Polygram film WHAT DREAMS MAY COME starring Robin Williams and Cuba Gooding, Jr., and a member of the production staff of Warner Bros. Television IT HAD TO BE YOU starring Faye Dunaway & Robert Urich. Marquetta served as the Executive Producer of the abstract short film AZURE CIRCUS SKIES (Christopher Neiman) with director Christina Morales (DREAMMAKER) and she coordinated publicity efforts as one of the unit publicists for the award winning "indie" film THE MIDDLE PASSAGE. In addition, Marquetta was an integral part of the executive production staff for the NAACP Image Awards starring Halle Berry, Denzel Washington and Jay Leno. A trained musician, Marquetta parlayed her love for music by working in the record industry for major record labels (Warner Bros., Columbia, Epic, Arista, EMI) in promotion, A&R and personal management. She worked with such artists as Prince, Quincy Jones, Paul Simon, Madonna and Whitney Houston, among others. Email |
